Born in: Okinawa, Japan
Resided in: Vance County, North Carolina

HENDERSON – Mark Anthony Hayes, 63, of Henderson, NC passed away Saturday, June 28, 2025, at his home. He was born on November 7, 1961, in Okinawa, Japan, where his military family was stationed.  Mark was the son of the late Tony Bruce Hayes and Eloise Farmer Hayes. He was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corp, and the owner of Ant’s Hauling Services. He was a humble and gentle soul that was charitable to all. He absolutely loved and adored his children and grandchildren. He loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, to he has now passed from this earth into the glorious presence of our Most High God in Heaven. As Psalms 16:11 says about God: “You make known to me the path of life, you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.”

Mark loved his children and grandchildren and always spoke so highly and lovingly of them. In addition, he adored his sisters and loved them deeply. He was an avid sports fan, and his favorite team was the Atlanta Falcons. He enjoyed working and maintaining the beauty of his yard. He enjoyed watching TV and particularly Westerns. He enjoyed reading also, most importantly the Word of God, the Holy Bible. He loved fishing and trips to the beach where he could fish off the pier, as well as sitting at the side of a lake or river fishing. One of his most enjoyable fishing expeditions was at the beach among his daughters, grandchildren and sisters fishing on the Gulf. Another cherished fishing memory was just a month ago while visiting his dearly beloved sister Ann and they went fishing together at a nearby local fishing spot. Those times with family are deeply memorialized in our hearts and so thankful and appreciative to have had them. Mark had the most beautiful singing voice. He loved country music. When he did karaoke people would often ask him to sing a favorite of theirs. He had a deep singing voice and loved to sing songs about Jesus too. He sang the ballad song “The Green Beret” at his father’s funeral in honor of our father who was a Green Beret Soldier.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents Tony Bruce Hayes and Eloise Farmer Hayes; his beloved daughter, Jessica Anne Hayes; his precious niece, Melanie Brooke Taylor; his brothers-in-law, Tommy Taylor and Steve Jason Inscoe; along with his dearly loved dogs, Mia, Scarlett, Rhett, and Queenie.

Left to honor his life are his daughters, Gina Suzzane Hayes, Jamie Michelle Bishop, and her husband Joshua Anthony Bishop, Jenifer Leigh Hayes; 16 grandchildren with one on the way; many nieces and nephews who cherish him; his sisters, Sherry Lee Inscoe, Alice Hayes Taylor, Lorie Ann Losew, and her husband Bill Losew, Darling Jill Hafezi, and her husband Faramarz Hafezi; and his step-mother, Alice “Tracy” Hayes. He also had many cousins and stepsiblings that he grew up loving and visiting from time to time.

Family, I am so sorry to hear this sad news but what a blessing to know he is in Heaven. I have so many great memories of Mark growing up and always had a crush on him and Lonnie. Tootsie and I would fight over them when they came to visit! We always had a great time with all of you and made so many special family memories! I was thankful to have seen him and visit him in our older years when he moved near me for a short time! He loved God and he proudly loved and served his country! God bless you all!
