Walter Clark Conner III

September 1, 1966 ~ April 7, 2025

Born in: Nash County, North Carolina
Resided in: Elm City, North Carolina

ELM CITY – Walter Clark Conner, III, passed away on Monday, April 7th, 2025, at the age of 58. He was preceded in death by his father, Walter C. Conner, II, and his ex-wife, Deborah Williams Conner, who is the mother of his son, Randolph Clark Conner. Clark is also survived by his mother, Patricia Conner.

In his younger years, Clark was mentored by a dear family friend, Frank Daughtridge, who helped him develop and hone his skills in the industrial electrical trade. Over the years, Clark expanded his expertise and transitioned into the industrial refrigeration field, where he worked as a commissioning engineer for Innovative Refrigeration Systems. He has been a dedicated and valued employee of the company since 2006.

Clark was a hard-working, fun-loving, high-energy, argumentative, opinionated, highly intelligent individual. As a young boy, Clark already displayed his inquisitive nature and thirst for adventure. In grammar school, he wrote the following as part of an autobiography assignment: “I like all animals, and I have many. I like to skateboard and do well. I like fishing and swimming in ponds. I like to build with wood and paint. I like to work, mostly for money. I like to take things apart and put them together again. I like just about everything but school.”

Outside of work, Clark found joy in riding his Harley Davidson with the wind in his hair and his “knees in the breeze.” He frequently participated in bike weeks across various locations, including Daytona, Myrtle Beach, and Nags Head. Clark’s infectious laughter and “magnetic” personality made him the life of every gathering. He held his friendships close, and despite his loud snoring, his friends shared a mutual appreciation for his charismatic nature.

Clark’s life will be celebrated on Saturday, April 19th, at 2 PM at his residence (4359 Windfield Ct., Elm City, NC). All are welcome to join in remembering this remarkable man.

  8. There are some people who don’t just show up to work — they show up in your life, in your heart, and somehow manage to make the hard days easier and the good days even better. You were one of those rare souls.

You could always be counted on — whether it was for a solid laugh, a pep talk, or jumping in with that classic “let’s get ‘er done” fire in your eyes. You had a way of turning problems into punchlines, and stress into something we could tackle together.

You were more than a coworker — you were a friend, a confidant, and a damn good human being. Through all the long hours, chaotic mornings, and last-minute fixes, you stood tall and helped carry the load. Always supportive. Always encouraging. And always just a bit too funny for your own good.

We’ll miss the jokes, the stories, the sarcasm, and the way you never let anyone walk alone. You left your mark here — not just in the work, but in the hearts of everyone lucky enough to know you.
