ROCKY MOUNT – Brenda Gray Woodall, age 83, passed away on Monday, August 25, 2025. Born in Richland County, S.C. on August 12, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Durwood Gray and Betty Melvin. Brenda was also preceded in death by her brother, Rodger Gray.

Brenda devoted her life to her family, her community, and her faith. She spent many years as a dedicated housewife, finding joy in caring for her loved ones and creating a warm, welcoming home.

Brenda had a deep love for the simple pleasures of life. She especially enjoyed trips to the coast, where she found peace in fishing and being near the water. She never met a stranger, as she loved meeting new people and engaging in conversations that left everyone with a smile. A talented crafter, she poured her creativity into projects that reflected her warm spirit and generous heart.

A faithful member of Oakdale Baptist Church, Brenda served in many ways, especially through her commitment to the church nursery, where she cared for countless children over the years. She was also a proud member of the VFW Women’s Auxiliary, supporting veterans and their families, and a dedicated volunteer with the American Red Cross, assisting with local blood drives and serving her community with compassion.

Brenda’s kindness, laughter, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Brenda is survived by her husband of 60 years James Woodall; and brother, Donald Gray (Katherine).
