ROCKY MOUNT – Alice M. Boswell Bedford, age 86, passed away on Monday, September 29, 2025.Born in Bridgeton, NJ on December 21, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Leslie Boswell and Julia Fooks Boswell. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Frank Charles Bedford, Sr.; sisters, Connie Smith, Juanita Boswell, and her brother Edwin Boswell.
Alice will be lovingly remembered as a woman of many talents, a heart full of love, and a spirit that touched all who knew her. She had a gift with a needle and thread, spending countless hours sewing clothes not only for herself and her family, but also creating beautiful doll clothes that were treasured by many. As a seamstress, her work carried both skill and love, leaving behind pieces that told stories of her creativity and care.
Music was always close to Alice’s heart, with Patsy Cline and Elvis Presley filling her home with melodies she cherished. She found joy in singing along with the music that was a constant companion through the years.
Her greatest pride and joy, however, was her family, especially her grandchildren, whom she adored and poured her heart into. Whether gathered for special occasions or spending everyday moments together, Alice’s love for her family shone brightly.
Alice also had a lifelong fondness for animals, particularly horses and dogs, who brought her comfort and companionship. She delighted in collecting Christmas village houses, ornaments, and porcelain dolls, filling her home with warmth and charm, especially during the holidays she so loved.
Those who knew Alice will remember her gentle spirit, her dedication to family, and the many passions that made her who she was. Her legacy of love, creativity, and cherished traditions will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
Alice is survived by her children, daughters, Rhonda Byrd (Earl), Susan Craner, Winnie Clark; sons, Steven Bedford (Hollie), Frank Charles Bedford, Jr. (Denise); twenty-one grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren, and her brother James Boswell.

Old neighborhood family
Many goid times at the house 114 Walnut Street us kids were there all the time. Remember the day President JFK was murdered we watched it on TV. Us kids watched the kids Susy,Frankie,Winnie (piss ant) grow up! Plus the house was a place for Charlotte,Toni and Franny Rizzo to smoke with Alice and Butch.
A lot of good memories.
Alice is now with Butch and Neadie and the Rizzo girls. I’m the last of the group still standing
Rest In Peace my friend
Aunt Alice, I never forgot you! I was sorry to hear about your passing. I remember the Chocolate covered Pretzels, the little truck would sell. Similiar to the ice cream truck.
I also remember the underwear on the head thing:)
I was thinking about you for the last few weeks.
I hope now you can get out there and skate with your Butchie and Aunt Anita! Visit me anytime!
Love you
