ROCKY MOUNT – Judy Taylor, age 86, passed away on Wednesday, October 22, 2025. Born in Trimble County, KY on April 23, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Harry Walton Wood and Madalyn Lehue Wood. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Bernard H. Taylor, Jr.; sisters, Phyllis Forbes, and Dee Wood; and brother, John Wood.

Known for her radiant personality, impeccable style, and boundless curiosity, Judy brought warmth, laughter, and beauty into every room she entered.

An avid bridge player, Judy cherished the camaraderie and challenge of the game, often surrounded by dear friends who shared her sharp wit and love of fun. True to her nickname, the “party queen,” she had a remarkable gift for bringing people together—whether hosting elegant gatherings or spontaneous get-togethers filled with laughter, good food, and heartfelt conversation.

Judy’s home was a reflection of her soul—vibrant, welcoming, and effortlessly beautiful. With a designer’s eye and a flair that could have graced the pages of a Southern Living magazine, she had an innate talent for creating spaces that felt both timeless and alive. Her love of interior design was matched only by her personal sense of style—Judy was always impeccably dressed, with an elegance that never went unnoticed.

Curiosity was one of Judy’s greatest traits. She could often be found with her iPad in hand, diving deep into YouTube videos about everything from home design tips to the mysteries of the universe.

Judy also had a soft spot for true crime stories, finding intrigue in unraveling life’s mysteries, both big and small. And every Christmas, she gathered her family to watch It’s a Wonderful Life – a tradition that captured her belief in kindness, connection, and the beauty of ordinary moments.

To know Judy was to be inspired by her zest for life, her love for people, and her effortless grace. Her legacy lives on in the laughter of her friends, the beauty she created, and the love she poured into everyone she met.

She will be deeply missed and forever cherished by her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Judy is survived by her daughters, Paige Taylor Greene (Dennis), and Elizabeth “Ellen” Taylor; son, Bernard “Bernie” (Andrea) H. Taylor, III; grandchildren, James Files, and Mason Taylor; sister, Emily Wright; brothers, David Wood (Marty), and Pete Wood; and loving nephew, Tim Forbes (Val).

A Celebration of Judy’s life will be held at a later date with service information being announced.
