RICHMOND, VA – Mary Gwendolyn Wooten, age 69, passed away on Monday, November 10, 2025, in Richmond, VA. Born March 22, 1956, at Parkview Hospital in Rocky Mount, NC. She was the daughter of the late Maddry and Doris Wooten of Rocky Mount, N.C. She is also preceded in death by her son, Gregory Phillip Pugh, Jr.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving and devoted son, Brian Dodson (Jennifer) of Chesterfield, VA; four grandchildren, Rhylan and Brayden Robinson of Nash County, NC, and Skylar and McKinley Dodson of Chesterfield, VA; her brother, David Wooten (Maribeth)of NC; her sister, Susan Hopper (Tom) of NC; her nieces, Ashley Woolard, Taylor Hopper and Samantha Dorris all of NC; her nephews, Andrew Wooten of NC, and Matt Hopper of New Hampshire.

A celebration of life is being planned for a later date.

  1. So sorry to hear. I grew up with Gwen in Meadowbrook Park. We had many good times as kids….back when kids could roam and play overall the neighborhood! We went all through jr high and high school together. She was a good girl, happy and fun loving. Thoughts and prayers with her family. So sorry for your loss.

    • I was so sorry to hear about Gwen’s passing. We enjoyed lots of good times growing up and going to school together. Many fond memories ❤️ Praying for her family during this time 🙏🙏🙏

    • So sad to her about Gwen. She was my one of my best friends growing up. We would go to Richmond to visit her all the time. I was in her wedding and she was in ours. We had some great times at the lake also. She will definitely be missed

    Gwen was my neighbor on Vernon Rd. We had so many fun times!! I still to this day think of the days of laughter!! We were good friends for quite awhile.
