ROCKY MOUNT – Margery Joyner Wester, age 81, passed away on Monday, January 26, 2026. Born in Nash County, NC on March 5, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Adolphus Lee Joyner and Lula Pearl Carter Joyner. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Kenneth Howell, and second husband, James “Bernice” Wester; and her brothers, Donald Joyner, George “PeeWee” Joyner, Richard Joyner, and Bobby Joyner.

Margery was a woman whose life was marked by love, generosity, and an adventurous spirit. She found great joy in fishing and cherished time spent traveling, especially to the mountains, where she loved the beauty and peace of nature. Margery also had a passion for shopping for clothes and shoes and was always known for her impeccable style – she never went anywhere without looking her best.

More than anything, Margery was known for her open heart and open door. Anyone who needed a place to go, a listening ear, or a bit of comfort was always welcome in her home. Her kindness and hospitality left a lasting impression on everyone she met.

Margery loved her family dearly, and they were the center of her world. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, but her warmth, style, and generous spirit will live on in the many lives she touched.

Margery is survived by her daughters, Brenda Howell, Teresa Cale and husband Myron; two grandchildren, Amber Bell, and husband Cameron, and Brock Cale; and one great-grandchild, Carter Bell; sisters, Delilah Smith, Judy Bunn (Mike); brother, William Joyner (Liz), and special friend, Teresa Bryant.
