Resided in: Rocky Mount, North Carolina

ROCKY MOUNT – Mary Eloise Murray, age 92, passed away on Saturday, April 4, 2026. Born in Nash County, NC on May 28, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Urban Chamblee and Hattie Cone Chamblee. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Richard L. Murray; daughter, Mary Jo Murray; sons, Larry “Ricky” Murray, Stacy Murray, Scott Murray; sisters, Alma Morgan Finch, Pearl Morgan Bryant; brothers, James Cone, Buddy Chamblee, William Chamblee, and granddaughter, Stacey Lynn Murray.

Mary was a woman of deep faith, love, and devotion. First and foremost, she loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and her faith guided her throughout her life. She was a longtime, faithful member of Southside Baptist Church, where she found great joy in worship and fellowship.

Mary was the heart of her family—a true family woman who loved deeply and unconditionally. She cherished every moment with her loved ones and created a legacy of kindness, strength, and unwavering love that will live on through them.

She had a genuine love for people and a giving spirit that touched everyone she met. Mary also held great respect for those who wore the uniform: law enforcement, firefighters, and first responders.

Mary loved to laugh, talk, and enjoy life’s simple pleasures. She found peace riding through the countryside, taking in the beauty of farmland and God’s creation. She especially loved being outdoors and spending time in her flower garden when her health allowed.

Mary will be remembered as one of the strongest and most loving women her family has ever known. Her faith, strength, and love will forever be cherished.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Kellie Murray Frank (Kirbee); grandchildren, Anson Frank (Sarah), Bryar Frank, Dale Reams (Sarah), Jonathan Murray, and Brian Murray (Ann); great-grandchildren, Ethan, Haley, Sarah, Courtney, Cash, Breanna, Daisha, Jim, Lauren, Devin, Dana, Jasmine, Justin, Landan, and several great-great-grandchildren.

  5. A wonderful Lady. My Family grew up in the Southside community and attended Southside Baptist Church and the Murray family were fine people. My mom loved Eloise and the friendship they had with their group of ladies. Every time I saw her she was so sweet and kind and I enjoyed talking to her. My heart goes out to Kelly and and the rest of the family. God Bless all of you, and we know we will see Eloise again soon.
