The Johnson Difference

Your loved one never leaves our care.

Many cremation providers in our area do not own a crematory. They transfer your loved one to a third-party facility — often in another city — and you may never know exactly where, or who is handling them.

We are different. We own and operate our own crematory. From the moment we bring your loved one into our care, through the return of the cremated remains, they remain in Rocky Mount, with our family, every step of the way.

Be an Informed Family

Questions you should ask any funeral home

Cremation is permanent, and you deserve clear answers before you decide. These are the questions we believe every family should ask any provider they are considering. Here are ours — answered honestly.

A simple test: ask any funeral home these questions and notice how directly they answer. Clear, confident answers are a sign you are in good hands.
Vague ones are worth a second thought.

About the cremation itself

Q

Where exactly does the cremation take place?

In our own crematory. Your loved one is cremated in Rocky Mount, by our own staff, and is never transported to a third party in another city. If a provider can’t say the same, ask where your loved one would be taken and who owns that building.

Q

What identification safeguards do you use?

We follow a strict, documented chain of custody — with positive identification checks at every step, from the moment we bring your loved one into our care through the return of the cremated remains. You are welcome to review our full Cremation Safeguards.

Q

May our family witness the start of the cremation?

Yes. Because the crematory is ours, we can arrange a private witnessing for families who find comfort in being present for the beginning of the cremation. Providers who rely on an off-site crematory often cannot offer this at all.

Q

Do you offer live-streaming for distant family?

No — and we will never tell you otherwise. The law does not require a casket for cremation. We provide dignified, lower-cost alternative containers, and offer a rental casket if you would like the appearance of one for a viewing.

About the Facility & the Service

Q

What is the seating capacity of your chapel?

Our on-site chapel comfortably seats up to 250 guests, with an organ for traditional music and room for your family and friends to gather. We’ll help you match the space to the size of your service.

Q

Will our family be the only one using the facility?

Yes. We serve one family at a time. Your visitation and service are private — you will never share our building with another family’s gathering at the same time.

Q

How long do we have the facility for visitation?

Your visitation is planned around your family, not squeezed into a rigid one-hour slot. We’ll set a comfortable window that gives everyone the time they need to say goodbye.

Q

Do you offer live-streaming for out-of-town guests?

Yes. We can live-stream the service so family and friends who cannot travel are still able to take part, and the recording can be shared with loved ones afterward.

Cremation Gives You Options

Choosing cremation opens doors, it doesn’t close them

Cremation can be paired with as much or as little ceremony as your family wishes — before, after, or instead of the cremation itself.

A Traditional Service First

Hold a viewing or full funeral with your loved one present, followed by cremation afterward.

A memorial to remember

Gather for a memorial service or life celebration — at our chapel or your church — after the cremation.

A simple goodbye

A quiet private family farewell, or a simple cremation with no formal ceremony at all.

Lasting keepsakes

Memory tables, Life Tribute videos, and keepsake urns help tell the story of a life well lived.

A final resting place

Burial or interment of the cremated remains, placement in a columbarium, or scattering where permitted.

Military honors

Flag ceremonies, color guard, and full honors for veterans — we coordinate every detail.

—Dale Ellis

“Chad helped me through the unknown of cremation and made a difficult time comfortable, right to the last day of receiving my loved one.”
