Blanche Sutton

EDGECOMBE – Blanche Sutton, age 83, passed away on Wednesday, October 15, 2025. Born in Edgecombe County, NC on January 4, 1942, she was the daughter of the late William Edward Wells and Madeline Jones Wells. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Allen Sutton, sister, Janice Boyd.

Blanche was a spirited and loving woman whose passion for life was felt by everyone who knew her. She had a deep love for sports and could always be found cheering for her favorite teams — the Buffalo Bills on Sundays, Duke basketball during March Madness, and her favorite NASCAR drivers on race days.

Blanche especially loved Christmas — it was truly her favorite time of year. She poured her heart into decorating, celebrating, and making the season magical for her family and friends. Her joy, warmth, and generosity during the holidays will never be forgotten.

Above all, Blanche loved her family deeply. She was devoted to them and found her greatest happiness in their company. Her laughter, her love, and her presence will be profoundly missed by all who knew her.

Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, and in every joyful celebration of Christmas and every cheer for the teams she loved.

Blanche is survived by her daughters, Julie Sutton, Martha Hartley; son, Christopher Sutton (Patricia); grandchildren, Susan Stallings, Justin Caraway; sisters, Libby Suggs, Betty Jean Lynn, and brother Robert Earl Wells, Sr.

Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, October 19, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 661 English Road Rocky Mount, NC 27804.
