ROCKY MOUNT – Cecil Isidore Patrick, age 59, passed away on Monday, September 1, 2025. Born in Trinidad on April 9, 1966, he was the son of the late Venice Cencion Guerra and Juliana James. He was also preceded in death by his brother Carlos Guerra.

Born in Trinidad, Cecil carried with him a deep love for his family, his culture, and the joy of life. He was a man who worked hard and loved even harder. For more than 20 years, he dedicated his career to Hackensack Medical Center in New Jersey, where his strong work ethic and good humor touched the lives of many colleagues and patients alike. After his retirement, he and his wife made Rocky Mount their home, where they continued to build a life filled with love and laughter.

Cecil was a longtime member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in New Jersey before relocating, and his faith remained an important part of his life. He found joy in the simple things—his morning walks, a good laugh, and especially cooking. His kitchen was a place of warmth, where he prepared delicious West Indian dishes that became the centerpiece of many family gatherings.

Cecil loved to dance, and his greatest dance partner was always his beloved wife, who was also his best friend. Together they shared many adventures, including yearly trips back to his homeland of Trinidad, where he reconnected with his roots and cherished his heritage. Known for his jokes and playful spirit, Cecil had a way of brightening every room he entered.

Above all, Cecil treasured his family, who will remember him as a man full of love, laughter, and life. His legacy lives on in the meals shared, the stories told, and the many joyful memories created together.

Cecil is survived by his wife of 16 years, Shernell Sealy; daughters, Shannon Sealy (John Thompson), Elizabeth Patrick; a host of grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; sisters, Beverly Jagassar, Arleen Decoteau, Erica DeCoteau (Shawn Earl DeCoteau), Delicia Guerra (Deokaren Jagassar); brothers, Lon Patrick, Edmund Guerra, Gregory Guerra, Ricky Guerra, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Services will be private.
