WHITAKERS – Curtis Christopher Rose, age 68, passed away on Thursday, December 19, 2024. Born in Nash County, NC on August 18, 1956, he was the son of the late Curtis Crisman Rose and Peggy Skinner Rose.
Chris was a true son of the land. From sunup to sundown, he dedicated himself to farming. For over 40 years, Chris was dedicated to Perdue Farms, contributing his hard work and loyalty to the company. His love for tractors wasn’t just practical; it was a passion, a connection to a way of life he cherished. When he wasn’t farming, you could likely find him in the woods, pursuing his love of hunting. Beyond his work and farm, Chris was a pool shark, known for his sharp aim and strategic play. He was an avid NASCAR fan, with his favorite driver of all time, Dale Earnhardt. He also found comfort and entertainment in the classic Westerns of TV. Above all, Chris was a man who appreciated the simple things in life. He was a family man, and extremely proud of his children and grandchild. He loved nothing better than spending time with them.
Chris is survived by his wife, Cindy Nelms Rose; his daughters Samantha Rose (Michelle Hill), Chelsea Rose; his son, Curtis Christopher Rose, Jr.; grandson, Keason Rose; his brothers, Robert “Dale” Rose, and Scott Rose (Nancy).
A service to celebrate the life of Chris will be held at a later date.
Arrangements entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 661 English Road, Rocky Mount, NC 27804. You may share memories and condolences with the family by visiting www.johnsonfuneralsandcremations.com.
I was so grateful to Chris, and Cindy, when they bought our home place and it gave me great joy to be able to observe their family growing up there. Chris will be missed but our faith in God will take us through times like this. His devotion to the farm and his business is well recognized.
Your family will love and miss you until the end of time itself. You seem to have ment alot to them and having the love of your family is a powerful thing. Your body is at rest but your memory will live on forever.
