Donald Ray Crocker

October 22, 1943 ~ October 1, 2025

Born in: Nash County, North Carliona
Resided in: Nash County, North Carolina

NASHVILLE – Donald Ray Crocker, age 81, passed away on Wednesday, October 1, 2025. Born in Nash County, NC on October 22, 1943, he was the son of the late Ottis Lathan Crocker and Elizabeth Haislip Crocker. He was also preceded in death by his son Ronnie Ray Crocker, and his five brothers, and three sisters.

Donald, affectionately known by many as β€œMonkey Man,” passed away surrounded by the love of his family. He lived a life full of joy, laughter, hard work, and a deep appreciation for the simple things that made life rich.

An avid fisherman, Donald especially loved fly fishing, where he found peace and connection with nature. He was also a faithful member of Nashville Baptist Church, where his devotion and faith shone brightly throughout his life.

Donald had a knack for lawn care and took great pride in his work. At one point, he maintained 13 yards, cutting each one with the same care and attention he gave to his own. His commitment and work ethic were matched only by his love for people.

Known for his famous Brunswick stew, Donald could bring family and friends together around the table, filling both stomachs and hearts. He also loved to danceβ€”especially at the Moose Lodge, where he never shied away from showing off his moves.

Beyond his passions, Donald cherished time with his family most of all. Whether gathered together at home, enjoying a trip to the beachβ€”especially Nags Head where he and his brother Herbert would catch fish for supperβ€”or simply spending an afternoon laughing and telling stories, he made every moment meaningful.

Donald will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and friend whose lively spirit, generous heart, and one-of-a-kind personality left a mark on all who knew him.

Donald is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ellen Joyner Crocker; daughter, Donna Crocker Deans; brother, Herbert Crocker and wife Gloria, and many nieces and nephews.
