Marshia Michelle "Mickey" Riley

ROCKY MOUNT – Marshia Michelle Riley, age 80, passed away on August 29, 2025, in Rocky Mount. Born on January 2, 1945.

Marsha dedicated 20 years of her career to Bell Telephone of Rocky Mount, where she was known for her diligence and supportive nature.

A graduate of East Carolina University’s School of Arts, Marshia was deeply involved in her community, particularly at Englewood Baptist Church. Her creativity shone through in church dramas, puppet shows, and special event costuming. Her skills as a seamstress and costumer brought joy and spirit to many gatherings.

Marshia was a faithful, caring, and giving individual, always ready to lend a hand or an ear to those in need. Her life was a testament to her loving nature and her commitment to her family and community.

She is survived by her son, James Russell Riley. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fredericka Matthews Riley and Russell Riley.

A graveside service to celebrate Marshia’s life will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Rocky Mount Memorial Park, 4454 Dortches Blvd. Rocky Mount, NC 27804, with Rev. Charles Taylor officiating.

Marshia’s legacy of kindness and creativity will be remembered by all who knew her.
