Resided in: Nash County, North Carolina

ROCKY MOUNT – Michael Thomas Robbins “Mickey”, age 83, passed away on Thursday, November 6, 2025. Born in Nash County, NC on August 11, 1942, he was the son of the late James Thomas Robbins and Elisa Johnson Robbins. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Jimmy Robbins.

Mickey will be lovingly remembered as a man who lived life to the fullest and brought joy wherever he went. Known affectionately by many as the “Sunbeam Kid”, Mickey had a warmth and energy that shone bright in everything he did.

He spent 42 dedicated years with CSX, where he worked his way up to Train Master before retiring. Even after a long and fulfilling career, Mickey couldn’t sit still for long — he enjoyed spending his days working on his family’s farm, a place that kept him connected to his roots and the simple things he loved most.

When he wasn’t on the farm, you could often find Mickey behind the wheel of his Harley Davidson or Corvette, taking in the open road and the freedom it offered. Mickey also enjoyed spending time at Seabreeze Mobile Park in Indian Beach, N.C. Where he and his beloved wife Cindy made countless memories with family and friends. But Mickey’s happiest place of all was on the golf course with his friends.

Mickey’s spirit, humor, and love for life will forever be remembered by his family and friends. His legacy is one of hard work, adventure, and devotion — to his wife, his family, and the many people lucky enough to have known him.

He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all whose lives he touched.

Mickey is survived by his wife, Cynthia Stroud Robbins; his beloved companion, Jamie #2; his mother-in-law, Nellie H. Stroud, of Tarboro, brothers-in-law, Timmy Stroud, of Pinetops, Tommy Stroud, of Elm City; sisters-in-law, Jean Allen, of Tarboro, Pam West (Lenny), of Nashville, and Debbie Bridgers (Larry), of Tarboro; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
