ROCKY MOUNT – Virginia Lancaster Perry, age 84, passed away on Sunday, December 14, 2025.Born in Northampton County, NC on December 18, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Henry Thad Lancaster and Sophia Grant Lancaster. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Margaret Lancaster Arnold; and her brothers, Larry Lancaster, and John Lancaster.

Virginia’s life was a beautiful testament to faith, love, and unwavering commitment. She was a faithful and beloved member of Red Oak Baptist Church, where she shared her love of Scripture by teaching Sunday School until her health prevented her from continuing.

Virginia and Jesse shared a true love story, married for 41 years. They were inseparable, often described by friends and family as always being “connected at the hip.” Where you saw one, you always saw the other.

Virginia was a woman of simple pleasures and deep passions. She was a great lover of all animals, especially her loyal canine companion, Sophie, who brought her immense joy. Her hobbies included studying the Bible, playing games on her phone, and cooking. Her husband’s favorite dish was always her famous spaghetti, a dish she made with love and regularity. Her home was often filled with music; she loved to listen and had a beautiful voice, loving to sing whenever the opportunity arose.

Her gentle spirit, generous heart, and infectious love for life will be deeply missed by Jesse, Sophie, her church family, and all who knew her.

Virginia is survived by her husband of 41 years, Jesse Lee Perry; her sons, Dock Daniel Winfree, III, and Timothy Winfree (Tracie); and her brother, Jerry Lancaster.
