William Edsel "Ed" Proctor

July 4, 1927 ~ March 23, 2021

ROCKY MOUNT - William Edsel "Ed" Proctor Sr., age 93, passed away on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family. Born in Wilson County, NC on July 4, 1927, he was the son of the late Zillie and Stephen Proctor. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Louise Bottoms, Madge Williams; and his brother, Tom Proctor. Ed was a member of Proctor's Chapel Baptist Church. He served in the National Guard from 1949-1951. Ed was a man who loved his family faithfully and unconditionally. Before Ed's retirement he was a brick mason and farmer. Always trustworthy and humble he was known in the community for his honesty and hardworking values. He certainly had a soft side that appeared when the grandchildren came along. All four of them admired him, respected him and loved him dearly. There will be a void in our lives without him, but we were a lucky family to have him in our lives for so long. May he rest in peace with his heavenly father and know that we will be ok. Ed is survived by his wife and the love of his life of 72 years, Adell P. Proctor; his son, William E. Proctor, Jr. and wife, Patricia, of Rocky Mount; his daughter, Jeannie P. Hodges and husband, Wayne of Greensboro; his grandchildren, Richard(Anna) Hodges, Matt (Brooke, fianc), Jake (Melicia) Proctor, and Penny(Ron) Roy; great-grandchildren, Adelia and Abigal Proctor, Ava and Danica Roy, and Reid and Hudson Hodges; his sister, Alafla P. Eason; his brother, R.S. Proctor, Jr.; and many nieces and nephews.
