Angus William Hagler

February 14, 1926 ~ March 7, 2018

Angus William “Bud” Hagler, Sr. passed away on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at home in the presence of his family. Born on February 14, 1926 in Pensacola, Florida, he was the son of the late Lee Conner Hagler and Bess Harbeson Hagler. He was also preceded in death by his wife Helen Lancaster Hagler and brother Clyde Harbeson Hagler. His sister, Gloria Hagler Tyler of Pensacola, Florida, died on March 8, 2018. Bud is survived by his wife, Joanne Burkhalter Hagler; his children Suzanne H. Hinman and husband John Harold “Hal” of Pensacola, Florida; Angus William “Billy” Hagler and wife Carolyn of Houston, Texas; Mary Bess H. Simmons and husband Robert “Bob” Simmons of Mandeville, Louisiana; Lisa Ford Rodgers and husband Rickard “Trip” Rodgers of Rocky Mt., NC; Laurie Ford Graham and husband William “Billy” Graham of Wilmington, NC; and Lana Ford Winneberger and husband Ted of Wilmington, NC; 14 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Lee Conner Hagler, Jr. Bud served in the U.S. Army Battery A 545th Field Artillery Battalion during WWII, stationed in Hawaii and the Philippines. After graduating from Cornell University in 1949, Bud worked in the hospitality industry, including the Holiday Inn Corporation for many years. He had a great passion for golf, and spending time with family and friends. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Rocky Mount, NC.
