Brenda Alice Valentine McCafferty Barwick

April 8, 1948 ~ March 16, 2023

BEAUFORT – Brenda Alice Valentine McCafferty Barwick, age 74, passed away on Thursday, March 16, 2023. Born in Nash County, NC on April 8, 1948, she was the daughter of the late James Valentine and Beatrice Ayers Valentine. She was also preceded in death by her husbands, Samuel McCafferty and Edward Barwick; her daughter, Wanda Starr Braswell; and her brother, Willie “Mark” Valentine. Brenda loved to garden, she enjoyed her flowers, butterflies, and hummingbirds. She enjoyed relaxing by her fireplace at night. Brenda was a God loving woman. She enjoyed playing Bingo and collecting gems. She was a wonderful cook and loved making meals for her family. Brenda loved being a nurse, she loved teaching her aids. Above all, her most cherished memories will be those spent with her family. She will be deeply missed. She made a difference in the life of everyone who knew her, and she leaves behind a tremendous legacy of life, love, and laughter. Brenda is survived by her daughter, Samantha Taylor (Fred) of Beaufort; her granddaughter, Danielle Logan of Virginia; her sister, Sheila Carroll of Rocky Mount; and her brother, Craig Valentine (Joyce) of Rocky Mount. A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, March 24, 2023, at 3:00 PM at Rocky Mount Memorial Park, 4454 Dortches Blvd., Rocky Mount, NC 27804. Visitation with the family will be from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM prior to the service in the parlor of Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Services. Flowers are welcome.   8. Samantha I am so sorry at the loss of your beautiful Mom. I just saw this just this evening. I also saw she had passed on the 16th; my Mama passed away June 16th last year….9 months ago exactly. I know you loved yours as much as I did mine. It’s so hard; but I lean on our Lord and Savior everyday and my family of course. But the hurt is still there. I will be praying for you and your family.
