Doris M Parham

ROCKY MOUNT – Doris Thorne Parham, age 85, passed away on Monday, October 2, 2023. Born in Wilson County, NC on March 26, 1938, she was the daughter of the late John Thomas Thorne and Lula Phillips Thorne. She was also preceded in death by her five siblings and her two sons Brian Parham and William Clifton (Billy) Parham lll, as well as her two beloved dogs, Horace and Sunshine. Doris, a woman of great faith, spent time as a homemaker, a realtor, and head of volunteers at Nash General Hospital. She was also a dedicated volunteer with her local Red Cross Chapter. Her and Bill spent many years in California at Huntington Beach and Newport Beach as well as many years at Atlantic Beach. Doris also loved gardening, cooking, and sewing. But above all loved spending time with her family, especially at Christmas. She will be missed by all that knew her, but memories of her will never be forgotten. Doris is survived by her husband of 61 years, Bill Parham; her three sons, John Phillip Parham of Huntington Beach, CA, Bradley Mark Parham (Suzanne) of Rocky Mount, NC, and Craig Lindsey Parham of Anaheim, CA; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Doris’s Life will be held on Friday, October 6, 2023, at 5:00 PM in the Chapel of Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Rev. Nathan Wittman officiating. Visitation with the family will be from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM prior to the service in the Parlor of Johnson Funeral Home. The family would like to say a special thanks to her caregivers, especially Alyssa. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Paul’s Methodist Church 1217 Bethlehem Road Rocky Mount, NC 27803.
