Winterville – Dorothy Lee Proctor, age 87, passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2023. Born in Nash County, NC on August 23,1936, she was the daughter of the late Walter Thomas Hales and Bessie Herring Hales. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, William Edward Proctor, with 23 years of active military service, and her brother, William Hales “Billy”.
Dorothy enjoyed painting portraits. Dorothy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Dorothy and her grandson Jeffery had a special bond, and he was her eyeball. She will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her, but her loving spirit will never be forgotten as she was everything to her family. Above all, her most cherished memories will be those spent with her family. Dorothy touched the lives of so many people and will always be remembered with love and kindness.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter Elizabeth Hecker, and husband Brian of Winterville; her grandson, Jeffrey Hecker; and great grandchildren Magnolia Hecker and Wylie Hecker.
Visitation with the family will be from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM on December 10, 2023, in the Parlor of Johnson Funeral Home.

Dot was a good woman and was so kind, she loved all kinds of animals and would go to great lengths to care for them, she loved her family.my son Jason loved her, he would go with her sometimes to help her with pets and he loved just talking with her,I remember how good was was to her husbands mother, who I called Granny, her kindness is so easy to remember always!
