ROCKY MOUNT – Edna Davis O’Donnell, age 84, passed away on Friday, January 5, 2024. Born in Nash County, NC on May 19, 1939, she was the daughter of the late George L. Davis and Lottie Rackley Davis. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John Wesley O’Donnell Jr; two sons, John Wesley O’Donnell III, and John David O’Donnell.
Edna will be deeply missed. She made a difference in the life of everyone who knew her, and she leaves behind a tremendous legacy of life, love, and laughter. Above all, her most cherished memories will be those spent with her family.
Services will be private.

Edna was a neighbor of mine that I visited several times during the years. I had not visited since August, when I fractured my hip. She talked to me about her nieces. I had tried so much to allow me to take her to get groceries or go get groceries for her. She would always say that she had it all worked out with a taxi and the local IGA. I was in the IGA today and I told them about her passing. They knew who I was talking about.
My sincere condolences to you. I will miss visiting with Edna.
Just saw the obit for Edna. When John was with Southern Life Insurance Company, we had some great times together. John and my father worked together there! I will always remember Edna’s sweet voice. Love to you all. Love, Craig Olive and Family!
Aunt Edna, you were such a sweet lady. i wish i could have spent more time with you & visited you more often. i really feel a loss thinking that i cannot go see you anymore on this side of eternity. i look forward to a time we can visit when there are no time constrictions…
