George Burton Barnhill, Sr.

ROCKY MOUNT - George Burton Barnhill, Sr., age 86, passed away on Thursday, November 11, 2021. Born in Halifax County, NC on July 31, 1935, he was the son of the late Ryan Hercules Barnhill and Dorothy Bell Pittman Barnhill. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Edith Nadine Cooke Barnhill; his brothers, Wayne Barnhill and Charles Barnhill; his sisters-in-law, Eula Mae Denton and Lela Hunter; and his brother-in-law, Harvey Cooke. George loved working with his hands. He enjoyed going out to eat. George was a ministerial servant in Kingdom Hall. He loved spending time with his sister and brother-in-law. George was a very devoted husband to his deceased wife Edith, that he is now reunited with. He was a loving husband, father, and brother and will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him, but his loving spirit will never be forgotten as he was everything to his family. George is survived by his sons, George B. Barnhill, Jr. of Asheville, and Michael Barnhill of Rocky Mount; and his sister, Diane Whitley of Monroe. Service to be announced.
