During a family's time of loss, understandably family and friends would like to visit and express their sympathy. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding during this unprecedented situation. Glennie Edwards Matthews, age 95, passed away on Thursday, March 26, 2020. She was the daughter of the late Dida and Rellard Edwards. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Hilton R. "Buddy" Matthews; brothers, Gleather and Garthol and sisters, Blannie Boykin and Lida Wilson. Glennie leaves behind to cherish her memory, son, Mike Matthews and wife Cathy, granddaughters, Becky Rollins and husband Jackson, Susan Dunning and husband Cory, Casie Matthews and Ted Monks; grandson, Scott Matthews and wife Tiffany; great grandchildren, Brock Rollins, Riley, Zoey and Buddy Matthews, C.J, Luke and Jack Dunning , sisters-in-law, Linda Edwards, Lucy Flowers and husband Raeford. Nieces and nephews, Wanda Yuhas, Randy Varnell, Robin Baxter, Myra Cunningham, Jo Shackelford and Lea Ann Baker. Glennie was born in Johnston County NC. She graduated from Glendale High School. Glennie worked for over 25 years at Peoples Bank in Rocky Mount, NC where she developed many close and long-lasting friendships. Glennie enjoyed flowers, reading and crossword puzzles. Glennie's greatest loves were her grandchildren, great grandchildren and Buddy, her husband of 61 years. A private family service will be held.
