Hazel Louise Hedgepeth

ROCKY MOUNT - Hazel Louise Hedgepeth, age 89, passed away on Monday, January 3, 2022. Born in Belfast, OH on July 4, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Cecil Sprinkle and Oriaanna Davis Sprinkle. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Roy Benjamin Hedgepeth.
Hazel loved flowers and the butterflies that would surround them. She enjoyed rubber stamps and bead work. Hazel's favorite colors were purple and orange. She was a member of Englewood Baptist Church where she graciously served. Hazel could always be found with her bible in her hand. Although her bible might have looked torn and tattered, her bible was her road map for life. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her, but her loving spirit will never be forgotten as she was everything to her family.
Hazel is survived by her daughter, Louise Hedgepeth Pittman and husband, Tommy, of Rocky Mount; her son, Roy Charles Hedgepeth and wife, Lynn, of Sharpsburg; her grandchildren, Nicolas Wayne Hedgepeth and wife, Amanda, Amber Worthington and husband, Taylor, and Rodney Scott Hedgepeth; her great-grandchildren, Abby Nicole Hedgepeth, Avery Jade Hedgepeth, and Colt Worthington; and her sisters, Doris Newell and Ellen Eavers both of Ohio.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, January 7, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Englewood Baptist Church, 1350 S. Winstead Avenue, Rocky Mount, NC 27804 with Pastor Charles Taylor officiating. Burial will follow the service at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. A visitation will be from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM prior to the service in the Sanctuary of Englewood Baptist Church.

Aunt Hazel was definitely one of a kind. When I was a little girl about 10 I accepted Jesus as my savior and I really wanted my own Bible. My mother had 6 children and money was very tight. For my birthday Aunt Hazel gave me a children’s bible. It was a blue bible with pictures and had a zipper. Aunt Hazel always said what she believed and was very kind and loving in her own special way. We always had to let her take pictures when we were little, I bet she had thousands of pictures. My heart is with Charles and Louise. Know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.
Stopping by to see Aunt Hazel and Uncle Roy was always the highlight of our visits to NC. I have many fond childhood memories of Aunt Hazel (I absolutely cannot hear the word peaches without thinking of her). We’re sending our love to Charles, Louise, and all the kids.
