Howard Brooks Helton

ROCKY MOUNT - Howard Brooks Helton, age 81, passed away on Saturday, October 30, 2021. Born in Richmond County, NC on June 15, 1940, he was the son of the late Alexander Helton and Ola Virginia Brooks Helton. He was also preceded in death by his sons, Howard "Howie" Helton, Jr., Donald Ray Helton, and Jeffrey Venge Helton; and his grandson Christopher Ray Helton. He loved working with his hands repairing cars and making things. He enjoyed his work and the customers he worked with. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him, but his loving spirit will never be forgotten as he was everything to his family. Howard is survived by his wife of 60 years, Phyllis Williams Helton; his grandchildren, Stacey Thomas (Brandon Williams), Jaymie Hays (Kevin), and Leon Alexander "Alex" Helton (Brittany); and his great-grandchildren, Dylan Thomas, Hunter Thomas, Hailey Thomas, and Brooklyn Williams. A Celebration of Howard's Life will be held on Friday, November 5, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Fountain Of Life Church Of God Of Prophecy, 900 Wilkins Street, Rocky Mount, NC 27803 with Pastor Lutrell Spell officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Howard's memory to Fountain Of Life Church Of God Of Prophecy, PO Box 4109, Rocky Mount, NC 27803.   1. Uncle Howard was an amazing son, husband, father, brother and uncle. I will always remember our times together and phone conversations since we lived so far apart. He always had a funny story or joke to keep you laughing and smiling. I loved him so much and will miss him greatly. My condolences to Aunt Phyllis and family. May God provide comfort during this difficult time.
