Joanne Burkhalter Hagler

Joanne Burkhalter Hagler passed away on Thursday, April 12, 2018 at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice Care Center in Wilmington, NC, surrounded by her family. She was born on February 25, 1933 in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, the daughter of the late Edgar C. Burkhalter Sr. and Eva Petro Burkhalter Jones. She was preceded in death by her husband, Angus William “Bud” Hagler, Sr., who died on March 7, 2018 and by her brother, Edgar C. “Sonny” Burkhalter, Jr. Joanne is survived by her children Suzanne Hagler Hinman and husband John Harold “Hal” Hinman of Pensacola, Florida; Angus William “Billy” Hagler and wife Carolyn Hagler of Houston, Texas; Mary Bess Hagler Simmons and husband Robert “Bob” Simmons of Mandeville, Louisiana; Lisa Ford Rodgers and husband Rickard “Trip” Rodgers of Rocky Mount, NC; Laurie Ford Graham and husband William “Billy” Graham of Wilmington, NC; and Lana Ford Winneberger and husband Ted Winneberger of Wilmington, NC; 14 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Joanne had a great passion for golf and served as LPGA President at Continental Country Club in Wildwood, FL and at Birchwood Country Club in Nashville, NC. She also loved playing bridge, cooking, gardening and enjoying the company of family and friends. The family is so grateful to Carol Dickens and Sheila Lovette for the love and care shown to both our parents in their last days.
