ROCKY MOUNT - Joseph "Jody" Michael Pridgen, age 47, passed away on Sunday, March 6, 2022. Born in Nash County, NC on April 30, 1974, he was the son of Joseph "Jake" and Peggy Pridgen, of Rocky Mount. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joseph Russell and Mary Pridgen, and Mamie O'Neal.
Jody is also survived by his sister, Melissa (Missy) Pridgen, of Rocky Mount; many aunts, uncles, and cousins; and special friends, Janet and Johnie Pridgen.
As a commercial truck driver for 16 years, Jody had the opportunity to drive all lower 48 states, Canada, and one accidental unplanned trip over the border into Mexico. Jody was a great storyteller with a wonderful sense of humor. He loved to share many of his more interesting road experiences. Jody loved the beach, and no trip was complete without getting the rods, reels, and tacklebox ready to go fishing. He was an avid follower of history and current events and was always willing to share his opinion. Jody was his families IT guy and just knew how to set up and hook up everything and get it running. That ability also helped him and even with his physical limitations he was able to restore his granddad Russell's Farmall Super A tractor with the help of his cousin Rick Perry. It will always be a fond family memory of the Sunday afternoon when Jody was able to get the tractor running for the first time. Jody was a planner and would spend time online searching for everything from vacation homes, tractor parts, presents, or even a new puppy name "Tate" who provided plenty of company to Jody during the day. He was a loving son, brother, and friend and will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him, but his loving spirit will never be forgotten as he was everything to his family.

Jody and I were good friends coming up. We used to laugh and joke around on the bus on the way to school. He always had something going on. Jody will be truly missed.
