Aunt Lena we miss you already. Are hearts are sad but we know you have gone home to God and all those family members before you. Thanks for the years you were here for us. Thanks to my cousins who took such good care of you these last few years. Love you
I am so sorry for your loss. She was a beautiful lady. Sending prayers for all.
Prayers going up 4 the family!
I grew up right across the oathy at Adamsville from birth till my teens. I remember her for the over easy eggs she cooked for us that we called Lena eggs because that was the only place we had ever seen them cooked like that. I still call them Lena eggs today to my family. I remember her coming to our rescue many times during some of those tough difficult years. She was always strong and knew God was our rock. She was always up front & to the point when you asked her something. I remember when I was very young the black panther she had on her coffee table it was the prettiest thing I had seen so of course I asked her if I could have it Well about 40 years later she called me (1988) & said come over I’ve got something I want to give you!!! I got there & it was that black panther! I still have it today in my treasures in one of my china cabinets. Love you Lenlen & will have you in my heart till I see see y’all in heaven. Joyce
We are sorry for your loss of your loved one.
Hello to the family of Adams. Allow me to introduce myself – I am the son of Minor & Elsie Smith from Raleigh, and remember Adams fondly as one of the girls (Adams, Adams, Hazel, Alicia, and Betty). As the story goes, they all became friends when my mother lived in Rocky Mount and single and 18 yrs old – give or take. When I’d see them together, I knew I was in the company of greatness, of close friends for 50+ yrs… that’s saying something, that’s friendship that one doesn’t have the privilege of witnessing very often, and so when you do – well, it’s a marvel and you take pause of a group who’ve made the effort to keep in touch over 5-6-7+ decades. We should all be so lucky to form such a strong bond of friendship. I often imagine they saw each other through a lens that they were still 20-something. I just learned this past weekend of Adams and Hazel passing on, but if I’d known I would’ve dropped everything to show my respects. Although a little late, please accept my deepest condolences, and deeper respect of a truly lifelong friend to my mother Elsie. I’m forever grateful.
