Kenneth Wayne Whitley

ROCKY MOUNT – Kenneth Wayne Whitley “Pete”, age 69, passed away on Monday, October 16, 2023.Kenneth was preceded in death by his brother George Barnes. Born in Edgecombe County, NC on May 3, 1954. He was the son of the late Romell Whitley. Kenneth was an avid hunter and he loved to fish. He was a fabricator and a welder but never worked a day in his life because he loved his job. He loved woodworking and wood crafts. Kenneth was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Kenneth is survived by his wife of 49; years, Patricia Lucas Whitley; his daughters, Dawn Sherrod of Nashville, Cindy Whitley, of Rocky Mount; his grandchildren, Drew Sherrod, Andrea Sherrod and Damian Sanders; his great grandchild, Roman Wayne Hall; and his brother Tommy Whitley. A Celebration of Kenneth’s Life will be held on Wednesday October 18, 2023 at 3:00 PM in the chapel of Johnsons Funeral Home with Rev. Carlton Cockrell officiating.Flowers are welcome.
