Lila Mae Rose Joyner, age 86, passed away on Friday, February 15, 2019. Born in Nash County, NC on February 19, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Jack Rose and Rosa Whitley Rose and her step- mother, Carrie Rose. She was also preceded in death by husband, Elbert “Earl” Joyner; daughter, Linda Joyner Strickland, daughter-in-law, Mae Joyner and grandson, Kevin Joyner. Lila leaves behind to cherish her memory, daughter, Becky Crusenberry (Gerry), two sons, James Earl Joyner (Loretta) and Johnny Joyner (Brenda King). She is also survived by grandchildren, Donald Strickland (Kayla), Kristie Brown (Derrick), Kenneth Joyner (Kelly), Carol Webb (David), Johnny Joyner Jr. (Christy), Duwanta Batchelor (Trevis), Gerry Crusenberry Jr. (Melissa) and Rebecca Hogan (Kevin), fourteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. A visitation will be held on Monday, February 18, 2019 from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM at Johnson Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Hickory Baptist Church, 12702 NC Hwy 48 Whitakers, NC. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. I Loved Her as my own Granny and always enjoyed being around her, shed speak her mind in A heartbeat no matter if you liked it or not And was on Spot wink what she said.   3. Ive know Mrs. Lila since I was a little girl and have fond memories of her always smiling even through her hard work and hot summer sweat. Attending church with her in the later years was such a pleasure and she was always so sweet and caring. Maurie also loved her dearly! She will be greatly missed and prayers of comfort to all of her family!
