NASHVILLE - Lois Miller Christman, age 95, went home on Friday, March 18, 2022 to be with Jesus and her beloved husband, Carl. Born in Westover, MD on April 20, 1926, she was the 3rd of 12 children of the late Lester Miller and Claire Yoder Miller. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 72 years, Carl Christman, who passed on July 24, 2016; five siblings; and one great granddaughter.
Lois met her sweetheart, Carl at the age of 17 when she left the Eastern Shore of Maryland and went to Pennsylvania to work in a Mennonite home as a helper. They were married on November 13, 1943. They farmed for several years in the Spring City area of Pennsylvania. While living there they adopted their daughter, Helen, and son, Clarence, because they had no children of their own and wanted a family. They then purchased a farm near West Union, New York, with the West Union Mennonite Church on the corner of the property. When Carl was chosen to be the pastor, she became a pastor's wife and they served together for 23 years. They adopted another son, Curt, while living in New York. Lois and Carl were also foster parents to several children who thrived in their home over the years - a testimony of their love and devotion as parents. In 1979 they moved to Sarasota, Florida, where they resided until 2013. They moved to Lowville, New York to live with their son Curt and family due to health issues. Carl died while there and Lois came to North Carolina to live with family. For the past five years, her grandson, Chet Christman and wife, Amanda (Langley), of Nashville, North Carolina have opened their home and hearts to tenderly care for her. Even in her later years and dementia, the old hymns brought a smile to her face. Her favorite was "Hallelujah, Thine the Glory, Revive Us Again!"
Lois leaves her three adopted children to cherish the memories of the loving home God placed them in; her daughter, Helen Buckwalter (Daniel), of Homer, AK; her sons, Clarence Christman (Carol), of Rocky Mount, NC, and Curt Christman (Delite), of Lowville, NY; her ten grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.

Ms Christman would light up a room with her bright beautiful smile. I know she is smiling down on all of us. Christman Family is in our thoughts and prayers
I have a memory of Ms. Lois at a Senior Banquet at the church. She was in her wheelchair and was in the middle of the room singing . She loved to sing and knew the songs. That same night she kept asking when they were going home. She is home now and I am sure that is a comfort to the family to know where she went. My thoughts and prayers are with you all
