Marie Braddy Cahoon

Rocky Mount - Violet Marie Braddy Cahoon, age 86, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 14, 2019. A native of Halifax County, she was born in Hobgood, NC, on May 1, 1933 to the late Charlie E. Braddy and Violet Drew Braddy. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Russell "Jack" Cahoon; three sons, Kenneth, Daniel and Timothy Cahoon, and a brother, Percy "Dick" Braddy. Marie now precedes a loving family left behind to cherish her memory; the oldest son, Russell "Butch" Cahoon and wife Lynette of Roanoke Rapids; daughter, Gail O'Neal and husband Gray of Rocky Mount; three grandchildren, David O'Neal and wife Bethany, Christopher Cahoon and Amanda Cahoon; three great-grandchildren, Ashley Edwards and husband Jason, Candace O'Neal, and David "Davey" O'Neal; four great-great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Aubrie, Abigail and the forth yet named. For the most of her life, Marie was a hardworking, people loving, kind, humble person who always went out of her way to serve other people. She dearly loved her family and worshipped the grandkids, most of all she came to love and worship her Heavenly Father whom she is at peace with. A private graveside service will be held by family and close friends. Family will receive visitation at the home of her daughter, Gail, on 8277 Bend of the River Road, Rocky Mount, NC; any memorials of kindness are asked to be made as donations to Nash County Hospice. From her heart, her last words to all she cared so deeply for were and are "I love you and take care of yourself!"
