Rocky Mount - Mavis Freeman Richardson, age 91, passed away on Sunday, November 19, 2017.
Mavis leaves behind to cherish her memory, children, Mike Richardson, Tim Richardson and wife Maggie, Peggy Bowden and husband David and Wanda Richardson. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Brian Richardson and wife April, Debra VanLandingHam and husband Jared, Ashley Joyner and husband Philip, Amanda Whitaker and husband Edward, Daniel Bowden, David Bowden, Braxton Bowden, Miranda Richardson and Staff Sergeant Devin Williams; fourteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at Johnson Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Johnson Funeral Home with the Burial to follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.

It makes me sad to know that neither TJ nor Mavis Richardson are here with us any longer. To all of their kids & grands, my condolences on your Moms passing. I worked with TJ at Westwood for a number of years. My mother had worked with him at Sears many years earlier. Mavis & TJ were the sweetest people. I had much respect & admiration for both of them. To this day, I still have & use the wedding gift they gave to me in the fall of 1978 & I will continue to remember them every time I pull it out & use it.
