Gail, I was very sorry to hear of Mikes passing. I have always had the upmost admiration for Mike. He was a great guy. I know you will miss him dearly. I will always remember our shagging days when he was always explaining to me what Ernie Holmes was trying to show me. We had some good days back then. Fun times I will always cherish. My condolences to the entire family. My best. Mike Formy-Duval. Lake Waccamaw,NC
To Gail and family, Friendship is measured in many ways… Michael Boykin was a dear friend and long-time neighbor… Our friendship can be measured by DOGS! We had dogs while being a neighbor of Mike and Gail (for over 10 years in Rocky Mount). And, with a morning walk of the dogs and an evening walk, I want to tell you friends, in a year’s time, that’s 730 trips around the block. During our 10 years as neighbors, that’s a total of 7,300 trips of walking around the block with Mike, our friend and with our loyal companions. Friends break bread together… So, there were many Thanksgivings Since 2003 we have spent each and every year feasting a Thanksgiving dinner together with Mike and Gail. That’s 15 BIG Thanksgiving-day meals in total, for a total of 30,000 calories over that time-not to mention the laughter with Turkey Note poems! And, there’s more meals (and calories) with the occasional, let’s go out to eat! invitations. Friends travel together… So, our Trips… Now, I didn’t count the meals or the calories of our dining out on our trips together. But, the many miles of traveling in a car together with sometimes heavy conversations and more often laughter, total 4,302 miles (at least)! In a car… with Mike. Which included fantastic memories at the Yadkin Valley, NC; Charleston, SC (3 times); Savanah, GA; New Bern and Edenton, NC. Spending that amount of time and miles in a car together is truly a test to great friendship. Sharing a walk around the block, consuming calories together, or driving thousands of miles… now that is a forever friend! Fare thee well, Mike. You will be missed! Linda & Dan Bozik
