A loving wife, mother and “Granny” who was born in Franklin County, NC. Family was very important to her and she never forgot a single person whether family or not. Her memories are special to us all, of the past generations and having her home place and her grandparents home in her care allowed us all to hear of her memories of growing up with her beloved parents and brother. After marriage she moved to Nash County, NC to raise five children and added even more memories. Weve always marveled at all she knew and who was connected to who!
Her many interests and passions included sewing and quilting; UNC Basketball and Dean Smith; collecting antiques and Snow White memorabilia; Christmas was her favorite time of year and she loved collection and decorating with the Gingerbread Man; A wonderful cook, her favorite was fresh vegetables right from the garden with butterbeans and chocolate cake eaten together. She loved many special animals in her lifetime that belonged to her children.
She was a homemaker and housewife, who helped her husband on the farm as she did growing up with her parents. She alone with her husband ran Freemanss Country Store, then moved to Taylor Gin Co. to run a food and hardware store, cotton gin and corn mill. Her church from childhood was Castalia Baptist Church where she returned to serve as pianist for many of her later years. At her former church, Philadelphia Baptist she began playing piano after moving to Nash County with her husbands family. She also served as Womans Missionary Union Director and member. Her love for missions never took her on a trip faraway, but she led or participated in many projects and offerings that enabled many other people to learn of Christs love.
Many thanks and blessings to all who have prayed, visited and shared memories with us. Please know each and every person she ever knew in her 88 years were special and loved by her.
We will miss her tremendously, but it was time for her to go to her eternal home and play the hymns of old for all who have been waiting to hear them once again.
