ROCKY MOUNT - Rosalie Lemieux, age 83, passed away on Wednesday, February 2, 2022. Born in Clifton Forge, VA on January 2, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Russell Smith, Sr. and Mildred O'Berry Smith. She was also preceded in death by her first husband of 21 years, Sam Lynn, and her second husband of 28 years, Donald Lemieux; her brother, Russell Smith, Jr.; and her step-daughter, Luray Boykin.
Rosalie was a one-of-a-kind person. She devoted 30 years to her community working at the Red Cross. Rosalie helped with disaster relief whenever there was a hurricane or flood, making sure that everyone had a bed to sleep in and food to eat. She would also enlist her family to help set up shelters when they were needed. Above all, her most cherished memories will be those spent with her family. Rosalie loved doing jigsaw puzzles and enjoyed them more when her great-grandchildren would help. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her, but her loving spirit will never be forgotten as she was everything to her family.
Rosalie is survived by her daughters, Cynthia Walker and Michelle Pierce; her step-daughter, Lucy Lamm; her grandchildren, Alicia King, Ashley Pittman, Samantha Barfield, Erin Lynn, and Steve Boykin; her great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Railee, and Braden; and her close friends, Leigh Boyette and Becky Carozza.

Please accept our deepest condolences for your family’s loss.
I worked with Rosalie for a little while through the Temporary Service back in the early 90’s. She was an awesome lady and I know she will be missed very much. God bless each of her family and I know she rests in peace.
Rosalie had the brightest smile and a giant heart for her family and community. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
I first met Rosalie when her family moved into the neighborhood when I was a teen. I then had the privilege of working with her on a professional level at times with various Red Cross activities. Rosalie was the epitome of a someone with a servants heart and a smile that would light up any room. She touched many lives throughout her career and was highly respected in the community. My sincere condolences to the families.
My condolence to Cindy and family. Praying for peace and comfort through this time. I know she is truly missed. Only met her a few times and she had such a sweet spirit. God bless you all.
