Sally Pauline Surles

ROCKY MOUNT - Sally Bass Surles, age 84, passed away on Thursday, August 20, 2020. Born on September 5, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Leland Bass and Sally Ann Joyner Bass. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Truman Surles; sister, Frances Geraldine Jones; brothers, Leland Bass, Jr, and Robert "Coosie" Bass.
Sally is survived by daughters, Sally Jean Surles Jones of Rocky Mount, and Kathy Surles Harrison of Tarboro; sons, Truman "Shorty" Surles of Spring Hope, and Charlie Surles of Elm City; grandchildren, Jessica, Brittany, Austin, Joy, Truman (Little Charlie), Scott, Allen, Robert, Jennifer, Angelina, and Julie Ann; five great- grandchildren; sister, Ann Vernon of Sharpsburg ,and brother, James "Joe" Bass of Youngsville.
A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, August 26, 2020 at 3:00 PM at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Elm City, with Pastor Tim Parker officiating. The family will receive friends and relatives on Tuesday, August 25, 2020 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Johnson Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Relay for Life, Edgecombe County.

Jean I am so sorry for the loss of Mrs Surles. Praying for a peace that passeth all understanding. My heart still hurts from the loss of my mom in 2017 but knowing my God helps me get through and He will certainly do the same for you. 🙏
