Walter Duck Jones

Walter “Duck” Jones III, age 72 of Rocky Mount passed away on October 5, 2018 at Vidant Inpatient Hospice Center in Greenville, NC. Duck was born on April 25,1946, the only child born to the late Walter G. Jones and Clyde Strickland Jones. Duck is survived by his wife of 54 years, Ann Gay Jones, one daughter, Deborah Jones Black (Troy), one son, Ivey Jones and two special grandsons, Jordan Compton and Joshua Parrisher. He is also survived by one niece, Lisa Gay Casteen and one nephew, Jeffrey Gay both of Kinston, NC. He also leaves behind his precious yorkie son, Reggie. Duck was a graduate of Rocky Mount Senior High School class of 1964. He married his one love, Ann Gay Jones in 1964. Together they built a strong love for God, family, Country and Redskins football. You rarely saw Duck without one of his Redskin shirts on. Duck was a postal carrier for 16 years until his health declined and he had to retire at an early age. After retirement he began to find ways to make money and to invest it wisely. He believed strongly in making your money work for you. Duck was a natural musician whose love was playing the drums. Music was his escape from his declining health. He has instilled strong values in his children and grandchildren that will last forever. He was a very patriotic man who loved his country. A celebration of Walters life will be held on Monday, October 8, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Westside Church of Christ, 2551 Benvenue Road, Rocky Mount, NC with Mike Hinrichs officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Shriners Hospital for children, 950 West Farris Road, Greenville, SC 29605.   1. I had not seen Duck in years, but for some reason had thought of him recently. Im sorry to learn of such a decline in his health. He really was a good and fair person. My thoughts are with his family.
