MYRTLE BEACH - Al Stanley Batchelor, age 91, passed away on Tuesday, December 7, 2021. Born in Nash County, NC on November 13, 1930, he was the son of the late John Batchelor and Myrtie Pearl Batchelor. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Lolita Batchelor; his daughter, Karen Lynn Batchelor; his son, Al Timothy Batchelor; his sister, Roseanna Murphy; and his brothers, Pete Batchelor and Marshall Batchelor.
Al was proud to be a Korean War Veteran for the US Army, where he fought alongside his brother, Wilbur Batchelor. He was a member of Socastee Baptist Church in Myrtle Beach, SC. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle and will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him, but his loving spirit will never be forgotten as he was everything to his family.
Al leaves behind to cherish his memory, his son, Alan Batchelor, of Rocky Mount; his daughters, Donna Stubbs (Tom), of Merritt Island, FL, and Sherry Hanson, of Wilmington; his grandchildren, Alli Combs (Billy), of Wilmington, Casey Batchelor-Yeddo (Robert), of Rocky Mount, and Mike Batchelor, of Myrtle Beach, SC; his five great-grandchildren; his brother, Wilbur Batchelor, of Red Oak; his sisters, Carolyn Turner, of Youngsville, and Linda Baum (Jake), of Zebulon; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Graveside Service with Military Honors to celebrate Als life will be held on Saturday, December 18, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Forest Hill Cemetery with Dr. Micah Lane officiating. A visitation with the family will follow the service at the graveside.
The family would like to say a special thanks to the nurses and doctors at Grand Strand Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, SC.
