Althea Cox Viverette the “Beloved mama” of Steve Viverette and Linda V. Bass went home to be with her Savior, Saturday, July 9th 2016. Born May 17th 1926, she was the daughter of the late Walter L. and Ida Davidson Cox. Preceding her in death in addition to her parents was her husband Jasper Davis Viverette (JD), sisters Alberta C. Stout, Carletta C. Stevenson and brother Athel Cox. Also her Infant grandson David Bass. Left with wonderful memories is her “Family”. Daughter Linda V. and Husband Rex Bass and son Steve D. Viverette. Grandchildren, Jody and wife Tina Bass, Chris and wife Michelle Bass and Jennifer Petway. She was also survived by her best friend and sister Silma Lee Prince and beloved younger sister Dee and husband Jim Spencer, Sister-in-law Jane Cox and numerous nieces and nephews. Mama was blessed to have 10 great grandchildren, Olivia, Carrie, Matthew, Camryn, Gracie and Jack Bass, Macayla and Kenan Turner and Corie and Monica Baker, and 1 great great granddaughter Macie Baker. The family would like to express their appreciation to Breckenridge Assisted Living, Staff and Nurses for the love and care they have given our mama since November 2015 making it feel like home and also to Community Hospice for their compassion and care although it was only for a short period of time. At Breckenridge mama met Carol Lea her roommate whom she grew to love as a sister in Christ. Family will receive friends at the Rocky Mount Memorial Park in the Mausoleum at 1:00 PM Monday July 11, 2016 with funeral service to follow at 2:00 PM with the Rev. Tim Griffin officiating. Burial will immediately follow the service. Arrangements entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home Cremation Services, 661 English Drive, Rocky Mount, NC 27804.
