ROCKY MOUNT – Amanda Leigh Colbert, age 25, passed away on Friday, November 10, 2023. Born in Orange County, NC on August 20, 1998, she was the daughter of John Henry Colbert Jr. and Shelia Gail Colbert. Amanda was preceded in death by her grandparents John Henry Colbert and Evelyn Hill Colbert
Amanda had a special love for animals, especially cats. She loved all music, going to live concerts and the mountains. But most of all Amanda loved her family. She will be deeply missed. Amanda made a difference in the life of everyone who knew her, and she leaves behind a tremendous legacy of life, love, and laughter.
Amanda is survived by her Fiancé Jaylan Shawn Begley; her son, Jaylan Henry Begley; Godmother Sherry Joyner (Cristina Rodriguez); and her three brothers, Richard Wheeler, Anthony James Davis, Shawn Dale Davis; and many uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, and cousins.
A Funeral Service to celebrate Amanda’s life will be held on Thursday, November 16, 2023, at 12:30 PM at Gospel Missionary Baptist Church, 8444 Town Creek Road Rocky Mount, N.C. 27803, with Rev. Allen Mills officiating. A burial will follow the service at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM prior to the service.

I will never forget how much she loved Jospeh and she was so excited to be his auntie! Love loves you Amanda! I’m so sorry we didn’t visit you! But so grateful that you loved Joseph so much! I’m so glad I got to see you become a mommy little jay is so blessed to have had you as his mommy!
John, Sheila and Jaylan, I can’t begin to tell you how sorry we were to hear of Amanda’s passing. We are praying for comfort and peace for all of you. We will not be able to be there Thursday as we both have long-standing doctor appointments in Durham but our thoughts and prayers will be with you. Although Amanda had such a short life she certainly left an impact on all who knew her and her legacy will live on through Lil J.

When I first met Amanda she was the sweetest but meanest little terd, I loved her so much, she was my absolute best friend, and the whole 9 years I knew her, she would always keep me straight and out of trouble or atleast try to, lord imma miss those late night phone calls or the random phone calls just because we were bored, I love you so much Amanda. Keep me a spot open in heaven beside you, I love you Jaylan.
