ROCKY MOUNT – Annette Balkcum Simmons, age 73, passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2024. Born in Nash County, NC on October 30, 1950, she was the daughter of the late Hubert Lee Balkcum and Virginia Whitley Balkcum.
Annette enjoyed playing video games and watching ACC basketball Go Wolfpack! Above all, her most cherished memories will be those spent with her family. Annette touched the lives of so many people and will always be remembered with love and kindness.
Annette is survived by her daughters, Shannon Brown, Allie Tracey; brother, Earle Balkcum (Jewel); grandchildren, Anastasia Johnston, Conner Cantu; and great grandchild Griffin Jansen.
A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, May 9, 2024, at 10:30 AM at Pineview Cemetery 761 E. Raleigh Blvd. Rocky Mount, NC 27803 with Rev. David Whitley officiating.

I was so very sorry to hear of Annette’s passing! I’ve just found out! Annette and we’re good friends since we’re 15, we really had some good times and we went to high school together! She had many high school friends and their were 4 of us that hung out together, I’ve reached out to them to let them know! I lost contact after she left wellongate! Please accept my sincere condolences!
