Barbara Latham Speller

HOMEGOING CELEBRATION FOR SIS BARBARA LATHAM SPELLER Born on August 7, 1945 in Carrollton, AL to the late Eunice Rebecca Latham, Barbara attended Pickens County Training School until she and her mother moved to New York. Barbara graduated from Freeport High School and became an employee of the Nassau county school system. Mrs. Speller received Christ and was baptized at an early age becoming a member of Mt Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church. Upon moving to New York she united with Bethel AME Church in Freeport, NY. Barbara was United in Holy matrimony to Charlie Cliff Speller on August 5, 1995. In 2006 Mrs. Speller and her family moved to Rocky Mount, NC where she continued her service to God at St. Mark AME serving faithfully until her health failed. Mrs. Speller was an active member at St. Mark serving in the capacity of a stewardess, missionary, stars of Gold, Daughter of the Elks, Ladies of Lydia and Eastern Star True Haley 287. Mrs. Speller was preceded in death by her mother, Rebecca Latham and her daughter, Karen Latham. Barbara leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband Charlie Speller, one daughter, Tammie Robinson (James), three sons, Ricky and Angelo Latham of Rocky Mount, NC and Omar Latham of Hempstead, NY, five grandchildren; Yashema, NaQuin, Jarreak and Quadiar of Rocky Mount, NC and Brennan of Hempstead, NY, two great grandchildren; Takala and Taequan of Rocky Mount, NC. She is also survived by, a loving mother-in-law, Ms. Mary Williams, five sisters-in-law; Denise Speller and Brenda Dash (Allen) of Somerville, SC, Paula Chong of Monks Corner, SC, Geneva Williams and Patricia Williams; three brothers-in-law, Paul Williams and James Williams Jr. of Philadelphia, PA and Bakeem Williams of Somerville, SC, and a host of other relatives and friends. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at 11:00 AM at St. Mark AME Church, 1150 Tarboro Street, Rocky Mount, with Pastor Robert J. Yarbrough officiating. Family will receive family and friends one hour prior to the service. Entombment will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park in the Mausoleum. Repass will follow the Entombment at St. Mark AME Church.   2. For the time that I knew Mrs. Speller she was a very good neighbor.To Mr. Speller Earth has no sorry that Heaven cannot heal I know that Mrs.Speller will be missed ,but God will take care of you and give you the strength to hold on to his faith.

  3. I want to send my deepest sympathy to the family of Barbara Latham Speller. The bible tells us we can gain comfort from God, even during times of sorrow. We pray to our heavenly father for help to cope with the sorrow felt from the death of a loved one. By prayer and supplication along with thanksgiving, let your petitions be made known to God; and the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and your mental powers by means of Christ Jesus.
