Bessie Rae Joyner Bone

Bessie Joyner Bone, age 105, passed away on Saturday, March 30, 2019. Born in Nash County, NC on November 29, 1913, she was the daughter of the late Lonnie Jefferson and Lula Mosley Joyner. She was also preceded in death by her husband, J.P. Bone; two sisters, Lessie Mae and Ballard; and four brothers, Jeff, Cooley, Cicero, Roger and son-in-law, Mike Bunn. Bessie leaves behind to cherish her memory, daughters, Judy Hill (Melvin) and Betsy Bunn. She is also survived by grandchildren, Chris Hill (Amy), Jeff Hill (Lowry), Shawn Bunn (Missy), Stephanie Graham (Michael), great-grandchildren, Bryson Hill, Madison Hill, Jackson Hill, Kate Hill, Sam Bunn, Greyson Bunn, Jacob Graham and Bailey Graham. Bessie was a lifetime member of Oak Level Baptist Church, Sunday school teacher and choir member. She loved her family, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her hobbies were gardening, sewing and crocheting. She donated many of her crocheted blankets to friends and nursing homes. A visitation will be held Monday, April 1, 2019 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Johnson Funeral Home with the funeral service following at 2:00 PM in the chapel of the funeral home with the Pastor Terry Williams officiating. Entombment will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
