ROCKY MOUNT - Brenda T. Martin, age 67, passed away on Saturday, August 14, 2021. Born in Greene County, NC on January 6, 1954, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Ray Taylor and Annie Louise Strickland Corbett. Brenda had a love for teaching. She taught nursing at Barton College for many years, along with teaching nursing in the Cherokee mountains. Brenda was a member of Union Missionary Baptist Church, where she taught Bible school for 10 years. She enjoyed traveling and listening to music. She will be deeply missed. She made a difference in the life of everyone who knew her and she leaves behind a tremendous legacy of life, love, and laughter. Brenda is survived by her husband, Rob Martin; her daughter, Lauren Taylor Martin, of Washington D.C.; and her brother, Donnie Ray Taylor and wife, Lois Jean, of Ahoskie. A Celebration of Brenda's Life will be held on Thursday, August 19, 2021 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Rev. Carlton Cockrell officiating. Family will receive friends and family following the service. Memorials may be made in Brenda's memory to a charity of one's choice.
