Carolyn Lee Larson

ROCKY MOUNT – Carolyn Lee Larson, age 78, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 27, 2026. She was transitioned into the arms of the Lord while being lovingly cared for by Amedisys Hospice. Nurse Jennifer was a true gift to Carloyn. She was born on October 22, 1947, in Sampson County, NC to Rudolph and Essie Pearl Lee.

Carolyn married the love of her life James (Jim) Clayton Larson, Sr. on May 16, 1964… 62 wonderful years. Carolyn was smart with numbers as she worked at Boddie – Noell for ten years and then behind the scenes boss in the family glass company in Williamston, NC. Her grandest two traits were her giving heart and her sense of humor. She believed in giving to her family and friends whether it was advice or a financial lift. She had a vivacious personality. Carolyn thought laughter was good for the soul. She loved dancing, watching Fox News and Netflix, playing card games like Golf and Canasta with family. She was known as the Canasta Queen. Carolyn was a fun, loving and dedicated wife to her husband, James (Jim) Clayton Larson, Sr., and mother to her children Theresa (Tony) and Jimmy (Sharon); mema to her grandchildren Joshua (Ashley), Jessica (Ron), Clayton (Samantha), Sierra (Dre) and River;  great-mema to Jakob (Jasmine), Hailee, Luna, Alyssa, Julian (Lea), Kingston, Madelyn and Ayden; great-great mema to Caiden, Waylon, Oaklynn, Brinleigh, and Hattie.

Carolyn will be truly missed by all. She was blessed to be part of a large family of nine siblings John, Lonnie (Lois), Jerry, Jesse (Earlene), Louise (Ronald), Marie, and Edna (Bud). She will reunite with them all for the grandest of Lee Reunions. Surviving is her one brother Elbert (Rita) and sister-in-law Janet. Carolyn will also be missed by her many nieces and nephews that called her Aunt Coot.

A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at 12:00 AM in the Chapel on the Hill Mausoleum at Rocky Mount Memorial Park 4454 Dortches Blvd. Rocky Mount, NC 27804, with Pastor Brandon Watson officiating.  Burial will follow the service at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Carolyn’s memory to Oakdale Baptist Church 13037 US 64 Alt, Rocky Mount, NC 27801 or Amedisys Hospice in Greenville, NC 27834.
