Pinetops - Carrie Pollard Burgess, age 77, passed away on Thursday, November 22, 2018. Born in Edgecombe County, NC on October 14, 1941, she was the daughter of the late William Curtis and Bertha Daughtridge Pollard. She was also preceded in death by her husband, G.A. Burgess, Jr., son-in-law, Joseph Scott Thorne; two nephews, Steve Burgess and Larry Burgess.
Carrie leaves behind to cherish her memory, daughters, Bridget Burgess Thorne and Althea Ellen Burgess. She is also survived by two beloved cousins, Margaret Ellen Prout, Doris Johnson; nieces, Rebecca Joyner, Sharron Shaeffer, Ashley Davis and nephew, John Burgess. She is also survived by special friends Mary Ann Gardner, Shelly Benson and Carol Coates.
Carrie was a hard worker and devoted her life to her husband, family and Church.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, November 25, 2018 at 2:00 PM with the funeral service to follow at 3:00 PM at Faith Baptist Church, 4590 Faith Baptist Church Road, Pinetops.

Mrs. Carrie was a motherly neighbor to me. So caringand kind yet tough as nails if she needed to be! She loved her family fiercely and was the epitome of a wonderful Christian woman. Even during times when she was sick, she would always first ask how I was and how my family was doing. She will be sorely missed.
