Daniel Anthony Winstead

ROCKY MOUNT – Daniel Anthony Winstead, age 29, passed away on Monday, August 4, 2026. Born in Nash County, NC on March 13, 1997, he is preceded in death by his father, Darry Allen Winstead, Sr.;   brother, Darry Allen Winstead, Jr.; and maternal grandmother, Betty Joyner.

Daniel will be remembered for his larger-than-life personality, contagious laughter, and the joy he brought to everyone around him. Outgoing and friendly, he never met a stranger and loved being surrounded by family and friends. Whether at a cookout, party, or simply spending time together, Daniel was happiest making people laugh and creating lasting memories. He believed life was meant to be enjoyed and rarely took anything too seriously.

Daniel had a passion for fishing and enjoyed searching for old bottles and arrowheads, always appreciating the thrill of discovering hidden treasures. He also loved playing Call of Duty and spending time enjoying friendly competition.

Above all, Daniel’s greatest love was his family. They meant everything to him, and he cherished every moment spent with them. His warm heart, easygoing spirit, and unforgettable sense of humor touched countless lives. Though he will be deeply missed, the love, laughter, and memories he leaves behind will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Daniel is survived by his mother, Donna Joyner Winstead, and stepfather, Ross Winstead; sisters, Heather Giri (Akash), April Henson (Steve); step-sister, Jessica Johnson (Billy); paternal grandparents, Edward and Teresa Winstead; maternal grandfather, William Joyner; nephews, Eric Henson, John Henson, Arthur Giri, Asher Giri, William Holder; nieces, Pamela Etling, Naomi Henson, Reagan Johnson; his cat, Snowball; and best friend Justin Jenkins.
