Donnie Ray Poland, Sr.

ROCKY MOUNT - Donnie Poland, Sr., age 70, passed away on Tuesday, July 27, 2021. Born in Nash County, NC on December 18, 1950, he was the son of the late Herbert Levi Poland and Gladys Rhodes Poland. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Jimmy Poland and Joseph "JT" Poland. Donnie was a family man, and extremely proud of his wife, son, grandchildren. He loved nothing better than spending time with them. He was the owner and operator of Poland's Paint & Power wash. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle and will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him, but his loving spirit will never be forgotten as he was everything to his family. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 45 years, Alice Crisp Poland, of Rocky Mount; his son, Donnie Poland, Jr., of Rocky Mount; his grandchildren, Mariah, Aubrey, and Cameron Poland; his sister, Shirley and husband Tony Shearin, of Rocky Mount; his brother, Johnny Poland, of Rocky Mount; his nieces, Angel Poland Johnson, of Roanoke Rapids, and Jamie Poland, of Rocky Mount; and his nephews, Wes Poland, of Goldsboro, Chris Poland, of Goldsboro, Huwert Poland, of Wilson, Micah Shearin, of Rocky Mount, Matthew Shearin, of Louisiana, Marcus Shearin, of Rocky Mount, Mitchell Shearin, of Rocky mount, and Michael Shearin, of California. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, August 9, 2021 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Burial will follow the service at Joyner's Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 11:45 AM to 1:45 PM prior to the service at Johnson Funeral Home. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the family is requesting the need for social distancing and wearing of masks due to health concerns faced around our nation at this time.
